A baby...

A baby will make love stronger, days shorter, nights longer, bankroll smaller, home happier, clothes shabbier, the past forgotten, and the future worth living for.

Daddy's Day Out

Hudson and Adam got to spend some time together over the weekend so I just wanted to share the pictures. Every year, the beaches have a festival called "Dancin in the Streets" with outdoor music and lots of street vendors. I spent the day with my mom and my sister so Adam ventured out for the first time on his own with Hudson. I met up with them later and I could tell Adam was so proud to show him off to all of his friends! Hudson fell sound asleep for a little while in the Baby Bjorn but once he woke up and ate, he was ready to go home! They had a great day though! This weekend, we are hoping to make it to a friends pool. The baby bathing suit and sun hat have been ordered and the tent has been purchased! I just hope this weather holds up!

My first day back at work

My first day back in the office was yesterday. I started to get sad when I was driving Hudson in the car on our way to Lydia's (she's his nanny) and it didn't let up until I got to work and distracted myself. Lydia was a great find though and she's been sending me updates on his sleeping and eating schedule and she sent these two pictures also:

It does bum me out that by the time I pick Hudson up and we get all the way home, it is almost time for his bath and bedtime. Being away from him during the day makes me appreciate him that much more and I look forward to the weekends so I can spend all my time with him. Lydia said he has been doing great and she watches a 10 month old girl named Savannah. Savannah is already crawling and waving hello and good bye so I think it will be really good for Hudson to be around her. Lydia said she was very impressed at the fact that Hudson could grab on to toys. She called him advanced, we call him our little Baby Einstein.

Big day at the doctor

Today Hudson had his 2 month wellness check up. His head circumference is 15.675 inches and that places him in the 25-50th percentile for that. He weighs 12 pounds 8.5 ounces. He is in the 50-75th percentile in weight. He is 24.25 inches long and that puts him in the 90th percentile for height. I wonder where he gets that from! The doctor was so impressed with how well he lifted his head up when she put him on his tummy and she thought it was great that he knew how to lay his hands on his chest and pull his fingers into his mouth. He even gave her a slight smile! He is our little Baby Einstein. He also had his first round of shots today and I was very nervous about those. Luckily a new shot came out called "Pentacel" that combines 3 of the vaccinations needed so he had that shot in his right leg and that one made him cry because the liquid was so thick. He got a shot called Prevnar and that is the first of three of those. He barely batted an eye at that needle. He also got an oral dose of the Rotavirus vaccine. I debated on whether or not to give him his first Hepatitis B shot but I decided to wait until next month. The further I can spread these shots out and the less needles Hudson gets in his legs in one visit, the happier I am! After the doctor visit, he fell right asleep. We took him to Target, Babies R Us, Old Navy and Chipotle for dinner and he only woke up for me to feed him and change his diaper! Once we got him home he was a little fussy but it was mostly due to the fact that I was trying to massage his legs and they are so sore that it made him cry. But as soon as his head hit my shoulder he fell right back asleep and he's been asleep on Adam's chest for the last hour and a half. It was a busy day for the little guy but he did so good! I start back to work on Monday so we are going to meet his nanny tomorrow. I'm nervous about going back to work but confident in the woman who is watching him. He will be in good hands!

It was a magical week

We had a great week in the Lane family. My birthday was on May 5th, Adam's birthday was May 10th and Mother's Day also happened to fall on Adam's birthday! Not to mention, Adam's parents came into town for the weekend and it was The Players Championship (a golf tournament that's huge in Jacksonville). I had a wonderful Mothers Day and I hope Adam had a great birthday. Adams parents had a great time while they were down and we miss them already. I wish they lived closer but for now, this blog and Facebook will have to do. Hudson is starting to smile more and more and I fall in love even deeper each time. I honestly never thought I could love him as much as I do. I wish he could stay awake all the time just so I could hold him. I go back to work on Monday and I'm very sad about it. I thought I would be excited about going back and seeing all my friends and while I'm sure it will be fine, I am really upset about it too. Hudson's personality is shining through every day and I don't want to miss a single minute of it. I just hope his nanny won't tell me if he has milestones while he is under her watch! His neck muscles are getting stronger every day so I'm thinking he will be sitting up any day now. I do tummy time with him every day but it breaks my heart to hear him cry because he really doesn't like it so I pick him up a little too quick but I have to be stronger and just let him go. He gets his first round shots on Friday and I'm nervous about it but I know he will be fine. If he can get his heel pricked every day while he had jaundice, then he can handle a few shots. He is a tough cookie. I'm the one that is the wimp! He is still sleeping between 6-8 hours every night and I am so proud of him. He really is a wonderful baby.

Smile!

I was able to catch a smile of Hudson's on camera for the first time so I had to share it!
